Renting a home

From MalaysiaExpat

Jump to: navigation, search

Rental options in KL range from a single room in a shared house or flat in a remote suburb for RM150/month, up to a deluxe serviced apartment for RM6000 or more. Most expats tend to find rental condos in the RM1500-RM4000 range, depending on their requirements for location, amenities, and size.

Rent is normally paid on a monthly basis. Your landlord will probably require two months' rent up front before you move in. You will be responsible for paying the electrical, water, and sewerage bills, plus telephone if you choose to have a landline connected.

In Kuala Lumpur, one of the best places to find rental listings is the online classified ads of the English newspaper The Star. They have an easy-to-use web site which is updated daily.
